When it comes to choosing a location with the best shopping center, Thailand is definitely the place to go. This is hardly surprising considering the role that trade has played in the history of Chiang Mai. As it is strategically located on the Ping River, the city has grown as a main trading hub within the North of Thailand. The river allowed for reduced transportation costs which encouraged trading. It is partly for this reason that industries such as the silk industry have grown up within the area surrounding the city.
