
Public Transportation Ridership on the Rise Across the Country
Ridership on the various modes of public transportation increased to an all new high in 2012 as more people ditched driving to work. According to the American Public Transportation Association, there were 10.5 billion trips taken last year. Riders cited several reasons for leaving their vehicles at home, with affordable fares as a top one. Rider demographics changed. The rocky economy forced many to find a cheaper way to get to work.
