The realisation that the city of Leeds is a modern-day hub and favourite destination for dining and shopping may well come as a surprise to many visitors to the UK as well as weekenders heading to the magnificent Yorkshire moors and dales. The former market town, first settled in Roman times, became an industrial powerhouse during and after the Industrial Revolution and the arrival of rail transport, and hasn't stopped growing and developing yet.
