First Class To Kerala
One evening in the Madras Railway Station we booked our first class seats to Trivanduram, a gorgeous resort on the Arabian Sea in the state of Kerala, India- the "land of green magic." What was a 16-hour train trip turned into 26 hours, but we didn't mind at all. Trains in India, especially those going over the southern mountain range known as the Ghats, can be slow. But they are comfortable and have a comforting pitch and roll that lulls you into a quiet acceptance. Besides, the company on Indian trains can't be beat.
