Centenary of Mona Lisa Theft

Vincenzo Peruggia, decorator and painter, on the night of 20 August 1911 stole the Mona Lisa painting by Leonardo da Vinci from the Louvre Museum in Paris. A young Italian emigrated to France, Peruggia had worked on the glass case where the painting was kept, then in the Salon Carré of the Louvre. He knew very well the place and the habits of the museum staff.
