Cafes are not just places to get a cup of coffee or tea, or maybe a sandwich or pasty. They are places with a social, cultural and esthetic context that reflect a specific community or environment. As a travel writer I like to review cafes so that my readers will be able to gain a feeling for what it is like to visit a certain neighborhood or area of a city. Often, I will use the discussion of a cafe to introduce the reader to a new location. A cafe is a place where people can relax and feel comfortable even if they are a complete stranger to a city. So providing a positive description of a cafe can help the reader to really want to explore a place with which they are unfamiliar.
