The majority of central and northern Australia is known as the Northern Territory. It is known as the real Australian Outback, and has been called the real Australia. Its northern part is tropical and is known as the Top End, while its southern part is desert. NT is more than thrice California's size, but has a population of only one-fifth of a million.
